Good day, readers! I just came back from my flight yesterday and feeling very tired after doing the Accra-Abidjan-Accra sector. It was my first ever trip to the African continent and I can say that it was truly a one of a kind experience. Addition to that, I had the best crew and we all became friends even after the flight.
The hotel gives you this “tropical-kind-of-vacation” vibe as we entered the lobby. And there we had a free welcome drink, a freshly-opened coconut juice. The weather was excellent as well – not so hot, not so cold.
The flight from Dubai to Accra was a very tiring one. It was a full-load flight and we departed in the morning so we were all feeling very tired but still, the rush of excitement about seeing Ghana what drove me to go out and sacrifice my sleep that day. We went down to the hotel’s restaurant and had a buffet. It was all worth it!
We went out for a walk right after our sumptuous lunch. Most of the people said that comparing to its neighbours in West Africa, Ghana is a relatively safe country. I actually felt really safe and it is worth mentioning that the Ghanaian people are lovely and very friendly!
In the night, some of the crews and I went to this place called “Coco Lounge”. It was just a 10-minute walk from the hotel. They are implementing dress codes so be aware of it.
Awesome breakfast under the cool and windy Ghanaian weather! But please do bear in mind that this country is listed as a “high risk malaria area,” so therefore precautions are needed and “prevention is better than cure” as they say. Bring your own mosquito repellants, wear long-sleeved shirt if you are planning to wander around the hotel or outside during the night, and use your own personal judgment.
What made my Accra trip even more special?
It is simply because of our Ghanaian crew who I flown with. During the Accra flight briefing in Dubai, I quickly noticed how gorgeous this crew is and I had to tell her that. She was so nice, so kind, very sweet, and she even drove us around the city and brought us to a local restaurant with her mum.
When I got back to Dubai, I just found out that she was a beauty queen which left me in awe for at least an hour! She represented her country in the Miss World 2010 pageant as Miss World Ghana. How cool is that!
