Writing a Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Lately I have been receiving lots of email asking for the CV that I submitted to Emirates. So, I have just decided to share my CV sample with you guys. But before that, what exactly is a CV? Curriculum Vitae or Résumé is an outline of a person’s educational and professional history, usually prepared for job applications. It is the most flexible and convenient way to make applications. It conveys your personal details in the way that presents you in the best possible light. It is a document in which you are marketing something: yourself! You need to “sell” your skills, abilities, qualifications and experience to employers.

Putting together a successful CV is easy once you know how. It is a case of taking all your skills and experience and tailoring them to the job you are applying for. There is no right or wrong way to write a CV but there are some common sections you should cover. These include: personal and contact information; education and qualifications; work history or experience; relevant skills to the job in question; and some references.

There is nothing special about my CV since I made it as short and simple as possible, and dropped all unnecessary pieces of information so it would be much easier to look at.

♦Please take note that there are no specific standards required by Emirates. I do not claim any rights over this matter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Should I include a profile photo on my CV?
A:
Your CV is a personal advert about you. It is therefore completely down to your discretion as to what you do and do not include.

Q: Is it necessary to put high school on my CV?
A: It depends. If you finished college/university, there is no necessity to write your high school. Please take note that they only consider your highest educational attainment.
